Biedronka - Who We Are

Biedronka is Poland's most popular and largest chain of retail stores that is regularly visited by as many as 55% of Poles. Currently it owns over 1500 stores located in both large and small cities across Poland, offering high quality foodstuffs and household chemistry products at low prices every day.

Every day over 2 mln customers visit Biedronka stores, every year over 500 mln Poles do their shopping in Biedronka. We try our best to be worth the trust that the customers have for us through consistent policy of low prices and high quality. 

In February 2009 GfK Polonia, a market research company, published a survey concerning the customers' recognition and preferences on store chains. According to the survey Biedronka turned out to be a leader in many of the categories.

As the research indicates, Biedronka is the most deeply rooted chain of stores in the customers' awareness. Biedronka is also unquestionable leader as far as brand recognition is concerned. While surveying unaided brand awarness, 25 % of respondents named Biedronka first. This gave Biedronka the first place with big advantage over other players in the ranking.

About 41 % of people asked in which store they spend the biggest ammount of money for food products answered that in Biedronka (years 2004-2008). More over 61% of respondents are buying private label products made for Biedronka stores.

Biedronka has its own distribution system. Stores are supplied by 8 modern Distribution Centres.

  • Biedronka stores carry over 900 products, of which almost 95% are products of Polish manufacture.
  • Products available in Biedronka stores are delivered by over 400 suppliers, the majority of which are Polish manufacturers and distributors
  • Biedronka chain owns nearly 60% of all discount stores in Poland.

Biedronka brand is one of the most popular and valuable Polish brands. In 2004 and 2005 , as the only retail chain in Poland, it was presented with the prestigious Superbrands award. Biedronka became one of the brands that had been selected from among 1200 consumer brands present in the Polish market. It also topped the Priority in Awareness ranking published in June 2004 by Rzeczpospolita. According to the Brand Strength Ranking 2008 drawn up by the Rzeczpospolita daily, our chain is the number one retail company in terms of market share.
